About Marlene Taube-Schiff
Dr. Taube-Schiff completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec in 2005. She then completed her residency at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Taube-Schiff then held positions in various academic teaching hospitals in Ontario, working with a wide variety of individuals in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings. She is one of the founding professionals of the Sunnybrook Intensive Services Program for OCD. This is the only residential treatment program for individuals with OCD in all of Canada. She currently remains affiliated with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and is involved in research initiatives.
Dr. Taube-Schiff has been a Registered Psychologist for close to 20 years and her clinical work has focused on the delivery of scientifically-supported treatments for obsessive compulsive and related disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, relationship issues, as well as a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relational issues. Dr. Taube-Schiff ensures every individual she sees receives treatment that is tailored to their individual needs. She works with adolescents, teens and adults throughout Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Her clinical approach is grounded in the delivery of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), while integrating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy-Informed Skills and Motivational Interviewing. She also uses Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) as one of her approaches when working with individuals with OCD. She engages in ongoing learning and consultation for I-CBT for OCD to ensure that her treatment interventions are always evidence-based and align with best practice.
Dr. Taube-Schiff also has experience being able to adapt therapy for individuals with OCD for clients, including teens and adults diagnosed with ADHD and autism. She will deliver CBT, ICBT and ERP in ways that are more engaging and meaningful for these individuals.
Dr. Taube-Schiff also works with adolescents, teens and adults who have experienced trauma. She uses Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in order to help individuals process their trauma and reduce avoidance behaviours within their lives. She will also use ACT-Focused Trauma Therapy when working with individuals with trauma and trauma-related stressors.
Dr. Taube-Schiff is also involved in research on OCD and treatment effectiveness, quality of care issues and enhancing people’s motivation to make changes when undergoing treatment. She has over 25 scientific publications, including book chapters, and has presented numerous workshops and symposiums both nationally and internationally. Dr. Taube-Schiff is currently an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and holds Adjunct Faculty positions at York University and previously at Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Taube-Schiff is also engaged in a variety of teaching opportunities for OCD for clinicians across Ontario. She is also a consultant for I-CBT for OCD and enjoys helping other professionals learn more about this approach for individuals with OCD.
Dr. Taube-Schiff’s practice, Forward Thinking Psychological Services ®, provides clients with the skills and tools they need to move ahead in their lives and achieve their goals, despite any distress they may experience. In doing so, individuals are able to move forward and get back the life they want to live.
Dr. Taube-Schiff is actively engaged in supervising associates at Forward Thinking Psychological Services® . She supervises practicum students, psychology residents, advanced doctoral students as well as individuals completing their year of supervised practice. She supervises evidence-based psychodiagnostic assessment and treatment interventions. She is extremely passionate about teaching and always welcomes the opportunity to supervise interested therapists.
Dr. Taube-Schiff is also a member of the Anxiety Canada Scientific Advisory Committee and works with others to advocate for anxiety awareness and dissemination of education regarding anxiety and OCD across Canada.
Dr. Taube-Schiff is the Past President of the Ontario Psychological Association. She is also the Certification Chair for the Canadian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CACBT) and a member of the Board.
